Yes, already have distant relatives saying they are going to pile in on my crib if TSHTF. My thanks for pleading with them to prep.

Don't have first hand knowledge, many good reports on the web if you want to research it. From what I read they hold a tight pattern and require a certain degree of marksmanship to be effective.

That was indeed a good read. How can you get folks to see what is happening with the country (educate and help them to understand what the government is doing and what they need to be doing about it) without giving away your own actions to prepare? I am afraid I have already said too much to too many trying to reach them.

My thoughts too and a very valid question. You are trying to do the right thing and help others out but we are in the minority. So by doing what we are doing, or reaching out to others, we are putting targets on our backs. The best bet at this point is to tell people you sold off your PM's as the silver market went down, tell them you have cycled through your food preps and now only buy a few day's worth of groceries at a time. Make it seem like you changed your tune and even joke about it like you were being paranoid.

From another thread when you were looking for a source I went and picked up a couple hundred rounds of the centurion and hundred rounds of 00 buck shot......should be a hoot in the Mossberg 930 spx Highwayman turned me on to.

Yeah I have often thought about this. What really gets me is the guys on the weekly prep threads. They are giving anyone who wants to know an exact inventory of what they have. Idiots.

Holy cr@p! My hair is on fire after reading that forum. Certainly I'm living in a more privileged area and I know it, but I am very surprised that people are that freaked out & desperate already.

I may register over there to offer the following: If somebody unwelcome sees your preps and remarks in wonder about how you can afford to buy so much food, you need to tell them that because you are so poor you have to shop in bulk, and you don't "get to" buy pre-made and packaged food. Focus on how economical it is to shop in bulk, and make them feel like the extravagant ones if they claim they can't cook. "Oooh! I haven't had Keeblers in ages! I get sick of my own baking sometimes, but I have to use the flour until it runs out". Something along those lines. Smiling Bob or others who are registered at that site, please feel free to carry this message there if you think it would add value. I'm reluctant to join another site, as I would probably obsess about it at first and this site is quite enough of a time sink for me now.

Besides, I will be very busy topping up my preps and then hiding them!

I'm also planning something along those lines. But I don't think that the "I changed my mind & was just being paranoid & silly" reason for selling them would fly. People aren't that dumb, and most are waking up to the economic news of the day, so I doubt this would be believed. Better to say, "I got into a financial jam and had to sell to pay some bills" or something like that.

Best not to have to try to "unring the bell" here, though. If you haven't already blabbed about your preps or most especially your stash, DON'T!

There was a knock on my door tonight.. Thankfully it was only a pizza delivery.. :s9:

As I looked around the house today I did realize I am low on everything but have been using everything up in anticipation of my coming move. I tend to look at what I have and figure out ho long I would live.Right now I have about 2 weeks supplies on hand. I'm also fat enough I could survive a couple months with nothing.. That pizza really packs on the pounds!!!

Make sure the neighbors know ur prepping with buck shot and that ur mentally instable and parinoid. That might temper their mooching habits. I read a report on that centurion, shooter said it should stop about any living thing in your path. Maybe not an elephant. If ur down on ur luck neighbor charges the house with that, just let him in.

As I was carrying in some groceries from the car a couple of weeks ago it dawned on me that I have been routinely coming home with a good size load of groceries 2-3 times per week for quite some time now. I started wondering if my neighbors had paid any attention to this behavior. I rarely notice the neighbors carrying groceries into their homes, of course I haven't really been paying attention to them either.

Those guys are good. They answer emails right away, shipping is fast, prices are good, good selection and no hassle with regulations.

Not trying to make a sale here, but you know what lousy service you get most everywhere these days. I just had a guy at Gilbert's Guns tell me it was fine to shot sabot slugs through a smooth barrel because that was all they had in stock.

Maybe it is, but the box says "rifled barrel only!". I got some low recoil buckshoot and walked out. The placed was packed, the owner said they can't keep anything in stock because of the election (customers worried about democrats/gun control)

Thou must never assume!

My Dad died when I was 10. This left Mom with 6 of 7 children still at home. There was an inheritance, so we were not left with nothing. There was also S/S, but very little. I learned very young about people mooching. Some thought we were rich, but the inheritance didn't last long, between my Mom being somewhat gullible and it just plain didn't last long with having to relocate and all. I also learned young about survival and many of the skills needed to do so. One thing I learned, was don't even trust family, Especially not family!

For the last year I stopped the preaching, urging, cajojing, begging, etcetera. Now I just out the occassional article on how the world is going down the toilet. Sometimes I email links to interesting posts here at GIM, in hopes that my sad little freinds will maybe read a few other of the posts here. *sigh*
